Privacy Policy
In short
The app has no account, no login and no server of its own. Nothing you enter into the calculators is sent anywhere. Checklist ticks and reading progress stay on your phone and are deleted when you uninstall the app. The app shows adverts through Google AdMob, and Google's advertising SDK uses your device's advertising identifier to serve them — explained in section 3.
1. Information we do not collect
The app never asks for, collects, transmits or stores:
- your name, email address, phone number or postal address;
- your South African ID number or any other identity number;
- income, payslips, bank or card details, or any other financial information;
- passwords, PINs or one-time passwords;
- contacts, SMS messages, call logs, photos, files, documents or precise location.
The app requests no runtime permissions. It cannot use your camera, microphone, storage, contacts or location.
2. Information stored only on your device
The following is saved in the app's private storage on your phone. It is never uploaded or synced.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Checklist ticks | So your preparation progress survives closing the app |
| Guide chapters you have opened | To show your reading progress |
| Theme choice and whether you have seen the welcome cards | App settings |
| Launch count and any ad-free time you earned | To pace adverts (for example, no full-screen advert on your first launch) |
| A copy of the advert configuration file | So adverts follow the latest settings even when you are offline |
Calculator values are kept only while the screen is open and are not saved. You can clear checklist ticks and reading progress at any time in Settings → Reset checklist and reading progress, or remove everything by uninstalling the app.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free and is supported by adverts from Google AdMob. To show adverts, measure them and limit repetition, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects your device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID) and shares it with Google. Google may also process basic device information and an approximate, IP-derived region to deliver and protect its adverts. This processing is carried out by Google, not by us; we do not receive this data and cannot link it to you. Google describes it in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and in the Google Privacy Policy.
Your choices
- Where consent is required, a consent form from Google's User Messaging Platform appears before any advert is requested. You can review or change that choice in Settings → Privacy choices whenever it applies in your region.
- You can reset or delete your advertising identifier, or opt out of personalised adverts, in your phone's settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on the device).
- Optional: you may choose to watch one short video advert to pause adverts for a while. This is never required.
4. Network connections
- Advert settings. A small configuration file is downloaded over HTTPS so adverts can be adjusted or switched off without an app update. The request carries no information about you.
- Adverts. Requests made by the Google Mobile Ads SDK, described in section 3.
- This page. Tapping "Privacy policy" in the app opens this page in your browser.
All connections use HTTPS; unencrypted traffic is blocked by the app.
5. Children
The app is intended for adults planning or repaying study finance. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
6. Retention and deletion
We hold no personal data on any server, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete. Data on your phone is removed when you reset it in Settings or uninstall the app. For advertising data held by Google, use Google's controls linked above.
7. Your rights
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and similar laws, you have rights to access, correct, delete and object to the processing of personal information about you. Because this app does not hold your personal information on any server, these rights are met through the on-device controls above. If you have a concern, contact us using the address below; you may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
